The Nubian Pyramids along the banks of the Nile, eastern Sudan. You can glamp in wall tents and then enjoy the sunrise over the desert before having the pyramids to yourself.

Radigan Carter started since I could not find someone to manage my money who treated financial risks as real risk.

Not able to find what I needed, I set out on my own financial journey.

You aren’t going to read the typical financial thoughts here because I don’t have a background in finance, I barely graduated college, and have spent years working overseas where I manage real risks for a living.

I have a unique outlook, invest my own money, think deeply on managing risks, will never stop learning, like to have fun, and write about it.

View of Istanbul on a cloudy night from Mikla, one of the top 50 restaurants in the world on the rooftop of the Marmara Pera Hotel. Do the higher wine option with the tasting menu, well worth it.

The Fortress

12 letters for $50/year.

Each month I write a letter that is divided into three sections that detail what I am doing to continue improving all aspects of my life. I don’t think there is any real benefit to building wealth if it doesn’t make my life more beautiful.

The sections are:

1) Investments. I discuss my personal investments, if I am changing anything, what I am thinking going forward, and lessons learned from mistakes.

2) Lifestyle. I lived out of a backpack for six months in Afghanistan. Doing this showed me how little I need to be happy. As I get better at managing and building my savings, I want to be mindful to guard against the need for more. One of the ways I do this is by making my everyday life as beautiful as it can be, so I highlight one thing that helps me do that each month. Has been a warm-up routine that has kept me injury free for over a year, an espresso machine I’ve had for over six years that I love, etc in the past.

3) Closing thoughts. I write about whatever is on my mind depending on what is going on in my life and the world, not necessarily always investment related, but can be. In the past has been thinking about asset allocation across geographical jurisdictions and looking at the last 150+ years of returns of different asset classes by countries, or thoughts on the Indo-Pacific and why I wasn’t selling my Chinese investments, or thoughts on Ukraine after being over here, as an example.

Catch and release shark fishing on the Skeleton Coast in Namibia. The sand dunes run right into the ocean in this part of Africa. Recommend pairing with a hunting safari, spent five days hunting in the bush then two days fishing on the coast, great trip.

The Fortress + Discord

$1,000 lifetime membership and private discord access.

If you want more than the letters, if you want to connect with other like-minded individual investors and myself, the Discord is where we discuss and share everything from ideas, experiences, travel recommendations, to articles and lessons learned on investments and how we manage risks.

I learn a lot from those that are in there regularly contributing, you’ll see me give credit to them in the letters, no one person has all the answers.

I add value where I can, and answer any questions on the monthly letters.

Fortress + Discord is $1,000 one-time payment. You get the 12 letters per year from the Fortress and I will reach out to you direct with the discord invite.

If you are in the Fortress, and decide you want to upgrade to the private discord, shoot me an email and I’ll pro rate it for however long you have been a Fortress member.

The goal is not to be in the 1% in any specific category, only to be at least in the top 10% of each category. This is the beautiful life I am building, what are you building?

If you want the basics, you can get the periodic dispatches by signing up below. Of course, I treat your email address like it is my own, I don’t sell it and you’ll only hear from me when it matters.

Most importantly, no matter what you decide, the world needs more people who embrace personal responsibility and want to put in the work to build a beautiful life for themselves and those they care about.

I wish you the absolute best of luck and I’ll see you out there.
